About This Club

"We're eliminating your position." On August 17th, 2017 at 4:05 PM my boss said these words to me. By 5:10 PM I had turned in my computer, badge, took a few things from my office, and left the company. No goodbyes, no time to wrap up loose ends, just a few signatures and a good luck. This is my story now. Every day I share my life with you as I do my best to build the next chapter in my story. Nothing is hidden, nothing is secret. It's just me and my goals. Thankfully, I have some savings, some preps, and some time to think. The future is mine for the taking, and I plan to take all of it.

EE to handyman and a prospect of more money says so much. So much about what is really in demand / low supply, among other things. Mike Rowe the prophet, eh? About twenty-five years ago I was working as a construction laborer and was recruited to be a plumber's apprentice by a plumber we often worked with, and also recruited to grad school. I'm quite sure I would have been more financially successful and probably more personally fulfilled and independents, if I had gone the plumbing route.

Thank you! One thing to note, these wooden closet rods actually ended up breaking at their joints. I replaced them with black steel pipe about a month ago. Much more sturdy and easier to clean. I was worried the girls might slip on the pipe but they do just fine.

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. Josiah was just telling me the same thing last night so it must be good advice.

Super! Just use your phone and keep it raw! People want to see into your life (I know I want to see routine etc.) less work; more content. More tips!

    Welcome!

It's not easy making a go of it. I'm trying to dip my foot in homestead life and it takes a lot of money all the time. Fight hard but try to mostly do things that pay. Or make them pay by filming and getting patreon revenue/ youtube/ tips here/ book/ film down the road. Party on!

    Update...finally

Hey everyone! So it's been a long time since I have posted an update, and I want to tell you why. Turns out making a consistent video series is something I am absolutely horrible at, but I did manage to start a successful business as a handyman. Since January I have been keeping busy building a customer base and developing my skills as a business owner and as a handyman. It's been some of the most stressful and rewarding times in my life, but it is really starting to turn around in a big way. I am much happier now than I ever was in an office, and if things keep growing the way they are, I may actually be able to surpass my salary as an electrical engineer in a year or two! I still want to make videos and maybe even write a blog again, I just need to think about what I want to share. Things at home are every expanding, and we recently brought home our very first calf. I'll make a video to introduce her soon, and I guess we'll go from there! Fired and Free will go through some changes, but I want to keep at it! Until next time.

Fired and Free - Day 1: I Was Laid Off

congratulations on your newly found freedom!! I am not able to go back to my job because of a shoulder injury! Unfortunately, hair stylists don’t get severance packages! Hopefully, I will find a way to not go back, as well. I look forward to watching this journey. Thank you for sharing.
  24. Today I show you how to turn two comfrey plants into almost 30! Comfrey is an incredible plant and grows easily from root cuttings as small as 2 inches long!
  25. Today I finish what I started and clean up the rest of the garden area to make room for the fall planting! Now I've got a lot of work to do to prepare the beds themselves, but you can at least see the beds now!
