  1. Howdy! I'm Erin. I live in SW Washington state. We finally bought property about a year ago after searching for about 8 years. We have 5 acres and it was totally raw when we bought it. We're totally starting from scratch, though I've done a PDC before and we made do with what we had before. The property we're on is prairie that is infested with Scotch Broom, a highly invasive species in our region. We have 6 'farmstead' apple trees and 1 cherry along with a few useful natives. We're just coming out of a very hot, dry summer so half of our apples did not produce as we didn't water them and we have very rocky, fast draining soil. I'm taking this PDC because I'm always trying to learn more and hoping for more 'ah-ha' moments as I hear different teachers explain things in different ways. We have a lot of work to do building soil and slowing water on our land. So far we have a dozen chickens in a mobile coop/pen and a variety of newly-added fruit/nut trees.
